FAQ

Adventure Triathlon

  1. Q: What type of boat should I bring?
A: Bring what you got. Paddle is on flat and deep backwaters of Lake Cumberland. There is no bottom out risk as long as you stay in the main channel.

  2. Q: What type of bike would work best?
A: We highly recommend a mountain bike. Course involves a 90% single track trail and 10% other surfaces (pavement, gravel, grass). Trail varies from smooth to rooty. Expect some fast down hills. A gravel, cross or hybrid bike with knobby tires MAY do, BUT a mountain bike is likely preferred.

Paddle Race

  1. Q: What type of boat should paddle bring?
A: Bring what you got. Paddle is on flat and deep backwaters of Lake Cumberland. There is no bottom out risk as long as you stay in the main channel.
  2. Q: Is there a bottom out risk?
A: No as long as you stay within the channel. Shore line varies from shallow to deep. Course will be laid out in a way you won't bottom out.

Night Map Adventure

  1. Q: If the race is in the dark, how do we see the checkpoints?
A: We will be using a combination of traditional orienteering flags as well as special plastic pipes. All checkpoints will have reflective material on them for visibility at night.
